Summary

As a Site Manager Netherlands at Suncom Energy you fulfil a hybrid role, combining site management responsibility with hands-on mechanical engineering during project execution.
You are responsible for the on-site execution of our renewable heat projects in the Netherlands, from pre-installation preparation through installation, commissioning, SAT and handover to service. You coordinate suppliers, internal project teams and customers on site, ensuring safe, high-quality execution in line with technical documentation and project planning.
Alongside your site responsibilities, you will actively contribute to the mechanical engineering of projects, preparing layouts and detailed engineering packages yourself and ensuring that Suncom’s designs are correctly translated into practice on site.

You are based in the Netherlands and work either from project sites or from our office in Houten, depending on the project phase.

What we are looking for

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or other relevant (technical) degree.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in site management, ideally in renewable energy or industrial heating projects.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical project engineering, including mechanical layouts, piping schematics and calculations, and civil drawings and calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret related technical documentation, such as electrical drawings, I&C manuals, and SAT documentation.
  • Solid knowledge of Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) procedures and on-site safety protocols.
  • Excellent AutoCAD skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (both English and Dutch).
  • Strong planning, coordination, and decision-making skills.
  • In possession of, or willingness to require VCA-VOL.

Responsibilities

Mechanical engineering in Project Execution

  • Develop and engineer plot plans and mechanical layouts for Suncom’s SunFleet solutions, including SunArc, SunTES, and piping, using AutoCAD (2D & 3D).
  • Design and calculate civil and construction-related components required for SunFleet installations.
  • Develop detailed mechanical engineering packages, including layouts, piping schematics, balance of plant, cabling routes, mechanical equipment lists, and pump selections.
  • Prepare technical specifications and support the Supply Chain Manager in the selection of suppliers for piping, insulation, and mechanical installation works.

Site Manager during Installation & Commissioning

  • Develop Installation and Commissioning planning together with project team.
  • Verify site readiness (access, logistics, power, water, safety fencing).
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Testing at key suppliers together with the Supply Chain Manager and engineering team.
  • Coordinate and manage all on-site activities during installation and commissioning, involving customers, internal teams, and suppliers.
  • Ensure quality and compliance of supplier execution with agreed technical requirements and project documentation.
  • Ensure site safety and proper documentation throughout all installation and commissioning steps.

Site Manager during Operational Readiness and Service

  • Support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and close all major open points before handover to Service.
  • Ensure safe, operable, and fully documented systems at handover.
  • Support first-year optimization and service activities post-handover.
