Summary
As a Power Systems & Electrical Engineer at Suncom, you play a pivotal role in shaping innovative electrical automation and Power-to-Heat solutions that accelerate the energy transition. You will design electrical and Power-to-Heat concepts during the sales phase and translate them into detailed engineering packages for project execution. Your responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with international directives and safety standards (e.g. LVD and EMC directive), supporting supplier selection, and supervising installation and commissioning, including Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Beyond project delivery, you will drive improvement initiatives in collaboration with our R&D team and standardize design processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. You will work closely with our sales and execution team to help Suncom Energy scale as a global renewable energy technology provider.

What we are looking for
- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or other relevant (technical) degree.
- 5 years+ of relevant experience in power systems and industrial automation, including electrical system design, procurement, installation and commissioning, within project execution environment.
- Strong understanding and competence on LV/MV distribution in electrical grid operations, other renewable sources (PV, wind), and fundamentals of energy trading markets.
- Knowledge of IEC/IEEE/EN standards, SAT procedures and safety protocols.
- Pre: proficiency in EPLAN engineering platform for electrical schematics and documentation for industrial automation.
- Pre: Experience with electrical installations in Spain.
- Pre: Knowledge of the Dutch electricity market.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Interested to travel abroad for the installation and commissioning of our systems.

Responsibilities
Concept design in sales phase
- Develop electrical and Power-to-Heat (P2H) concept designs for customer proposals by integrating our SunFleet with other renewable energy sources (PV, wind, grid) connected via an Energy Management and Optimization System (EMOS) to enable potential trading on the energy market.
- Support sales with technical input during bidding and feasibility phases.
Design and engineering in project execution
- Design and engineer optimal electrical power distribution system architecture in line with customer requirements and parameters from sales phase.
- Developing detailed engineering packages (electrical schematics, instrumentation selection, parametrization, field network communication protocols, cable sizing).
- Ensure compliance with industrial EU directives and safety standards regarding project requirements.
- Prepare documentation for installation and commissioning phases.
- Provide technical specifications to the supply chain manager and support in selection of suppliers for the electrical system and P2H integration.
Installation and commissioning in project execution
- Supervise on-site installation of electrical and P2H systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in installations and equipment.
- Lead Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for electrical components, verifying performance and safety.
Improvement projects and standardization
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize our electrical design and reduce costs.
- Develop and implement standardized design templates, specifications, and best practices for future projects.
- Support our R&D team with Electrical and Power Systems of R&D projects, such as the implementation of an EMOS.
